Professional Experience Validation (VAE)

Validation of acquired experience (VAE) allows individuals to obtain a professional certification by recognizing professional, personal, or volunteer experiences that correspond to the skills targeted by that certification. The certification obtained through VAE has the same value as that obtained through initial or continuing education.

Professional Experience Validation (VAE)

An accessible approach

VAE is accessible to everyone, regardless of age, level of education, or status. All experiences related to the targeted certification are considered, including volunteer work. This system is particularly interesting for individuals who were unable to obtain their desired diploma initially, those who had to enter the workforce early and whose career path was primarily built « on the ground, » and those who wish to valorize their skills in fashion. As a leading fashion school in styling, pattern making, and fashion business, IFA Paris offers 3 professional certifications accessible through VAE:

  • RNCP Title « Styliste Designer » (equivalent to Bac+3/+4 – Bachelor level) issued by MODE ESTAH - professional certification registered with the RNCP by decision of France Compétences on 15/09/2021 (RNCP 35872).
  • RNCP Title « Modéliste » (equivalent to Bac+2 – Vocational level) issued by MODE ESTAH - professional certification registered with the RNCP by decision of France Compétences on 15/12/2021 (RNCP 36087).
  • RNCP Title « Manager du marketing et du développement de produits de mode » (equivalent to Bac+5 – Postgraduate Degree level) issued by MODE ESTAH - professional certification registered with the RNCP by decision of France Compétences on 24/11/2021 (RNCP 36047).

VAE Process
Framework

All Steps to Follow

  1. Self-assessment: Using the skills framework, you’ll be able to validate your choice of professional certification.
  2. Submission of the admissibility application: This will allow the admissibility committee to evaluate your application. The committee may issue a favorable opinion or refuse admissibility.
  3. If the admissibility opinion is favorable, you will be contacted to schedule an appointment with your VAE contact: vae@ifaparis.com
  4. Choice of support (or not), choice of date to appear before the jury and the establishment of a work schedule.
  5. Writing of the evidence file: to demonstrate that the experience acquired has allowed you to master the skills of the targeted certification.
  6. VAE jury: Composed of teachers and professional experts in the targeted specialty, the jury studies and evaluates the evidence file and interviews the candidate. After deliberation, the jury’s decision is communicated to the candidate at the latest one week after their oral examination.

Three possible decisions:

  • Full validation: the jury approves the award of the targeted professional certification, or of the targeted block of skills.
  • Partial validation: the jury grants the candidate part of the diploma but additional training is required and/or the writing of a dissertation, or the acquisition of additional experience in a particular field. A new validation may be requested within a maximum period of 5 years following the jury’s deliberation.
  • No validation is granted.
