The fashion industry is a multi-billion dollar industry that continues to grow. However, with the growth of the industry comes a responsibility to ensure that it is sustainable and ethical. Fashion Cube Hong Kong, a sourcing entity that handles garments and accessories sourcing for fashion brands, recognizes the need for sustainable sourcing and aims to build a seamless sustainable sourcing operation with a zero waste vision.

In order to achieve this goal, Fashion Cube Hong Kong has established a liaison office in Istanbul, Turkey. The office's primary goal is to contribute to the business growth cross brands for all concerning products/departments, drive added value activities, improve the responsive capability to service the business better. However, there are several challenges that need to be addressed to achieve this goal.

Emilie Vaissiere Tan, a representative of Fashion Cube, recently delivered an informative seminar to IFA Paris Istanbul students regarding the Fashion Cube 3 Project. This project aims at improving the procurement process of Fashion Cube HK in Turkey and strengthen suppliers' commitment to the Supply Chain Sustainability and Disclosure Process.

The Fashion Cube 3 Project is a group project conducted by IFA Paris Istanbul’s Bachelor Fashion Marketing & Management and Bachelor Fashion Sustainability students in collaboration with the Fashion Cube. The project aims to enhance two modules, namely Fashion Distribution Panorama and Sustainable Development Project.

The first module involves conducting an industrial benchmark on garment suppliers and accessory manufacturers in Turkey and related sourcing offices in Turkey. This benchmark aims at identifying the best practices in the industry and assess the current state of the supply chain in Turkey.

The second module aims at accelerating the full disclosure and transparency of garment sourcing and supply chain in Turkey. The module focuses on traceability and aims at identifying ways to ensure that the entire supply chain is transparent and sustainable.

The objective also involves conducting a risk analysis on Turkey's socio-economic, political, and sustainability perspectives. The analysis will be conducted using Porter 5 and advanced SWOT analysis to identify the risks associated with garment sourcing in Turkey and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.

During the seminar, Emilie provided an overview of Fashion Cube, stating that they handle sourcing for various fashion brands, such as Jules, Grain de Malice, bzb, Orsay, Pimkie, and Rouge Gorge. She also explained that the Istanbul Hub of FashionCube is part of the global sourcing network that operates in several Asian countries like China and Bangladesh. The goal of the Istanbul Liaison office is to manage the supplier portfolio strategy development sustainably.

The first preview of the student's project will be presented to Fashion Cube 3 on June 19th during a company meeting. The final delivery of the project is expected on July 3rd, 2023.

The project's successful completion will contribute significantly to Fashion Cube Hong Kong's goal of building a sustainable seamless sourcing operation with a zero waste vision. The project's outcomes will also benefit the fashion industry as a whole by promoting sustainability and ethical practices in the garment sourcing and supply chain in Turkey.

The Fashion Cube 3 Project is an exciting initiative. The project will give the space to students to contribute to a sustainable future in the fashion industry. It’s an opportunity for students to gain real-life experience working on an international project and deal with cross-cultural communication.  We thank Emilie Vaissiere Tan for her informative seminar, and we look forward to working on this project with Fashion Cube HK. Emilie stressed the importance of sustainability in the fashion industry, explaining that the project aligns with the global trend towards sustainable fashion practices.
