Posted on 11/08/2022

On July 23rd, as an exciting conclusion to their three week-long course at IFA Paris, Fashion Event Planning short course students held a fashion show within the community, Paris’ 19th arrondissement.

The fashion show, for the second year in a row, was held at the TLM Fil du Rail, a revamped train station that has served as a hub for sustainability, creativity and community in the 19th arrondissement. IFA Paris, a partner and stakeholder of the location, was glad to add this event to the TLM’s calendar.

The group of students met with partner organization “Les Couleurs de Pont de Flandre” to define and decide on a theme for the fashion show. The themes of the show included migration, upcyling, diversity and inclusion, all themes that are key at IFA Paris. The two parties have collaborated on several projects over the last years to bring representation and creative expression to the community.

Being a multicultural group of students from several different countries around the World, students got to give their unique imput to apply the defined themes to the show.

Lecturers Jenae Green and Jase King used their industry expertise to teach practical knowledge and give workshops on key topics such as contracts, event planning, makeup, music, fashion photography and much more. These different workhops and lessons prepared students to properly approach and carry out all the tasks needed to successfully carry out this event.

With their lecturer Jase, students worked on preparing the show details, from the very beginning to end. Every student assumed a unique role to ensure a harmonious event, from the the front of house to backstage.

Recent graduate collections were selected and shown on the runway, styled in new, unique ways by the short course students. Each look shown was unique, with the common thread of emphasizing diversity. This curation style represents the notion that different things can come together to make one collective work of art.

IFA Paris wants to thank its' partners and the community members of the 19th arrondissement for their collaboration. The majority of models walking in the show were community members and after the show, a music performance was held at the location to promote local talent.
